companies, all business leaders and managers of tomorrow must understand why
they are engaged in CSR. A good number of articles, books, periodicals, workshop
papers are studied before preparing this paper. At the beginning of the study the
meaning and definitional side has been covered. An extensive literature review is
done on CSR in Bangladesh and other countries. Then the dimensions of CSR like
economic, social and environmental are tried to explain. At the end some issues
relevant to CSR in Bangladesh and some recommendations and CSR measuring

Audio aids function as learning facilitators and teaching machines, and
motivate the learner and arrest his/her attention during the instructional process.
Though such aids are greatly helpful in L2 teaching and continually expanding their
scope with the availability and development of technology, their use in the EFL class
especially at the tertiary level in Bangladesh is still limited. This study was then
designed to address varied issues related to the use of audio aids in the EFL class at
the tertiary level in Bangladesh. It concludes that the use of audio aids in the EFL
class is a plus, but the lack of teacher training, audio equipment and material and
administrative support seriously restricts it. Hence, the researchers recommend
proper teacher training, adequate audio equipment and material, necessary
administrative support, and a well equipped language lab to ensure the optimal use
of audio aids, and thus guarantee the learner’s maximum benefit.

Jahan, Akhter
This paper aims to explore the problems of teaching speaking in English
at tertiary level in Bangladesh and tends to find out the solutions regarding this issue.
Since English is a significant vehicle of communication in this era of globalization,
the complications in learning and teaching these skills must be solved. Therefore,
through questionnaire survey including teachers and students, those conditions have
been investigated by some statistical tools and found that the problems lie mainly
within the teaching methods and techniques. Moreover, significant statistical
association has been tested between students’ satisfaction of language competence in
spoken English before instruction and the level of their improvement in speaking
skills after instruction.

Performance Level of Dhaka Stock Market: A Quantitative Analysis
Ahmed, H U; Samad, Q A
The stakeholders of the stock markets in Bangladesh are trying their best
to make better infrastructure of stock markets in comparison to other stock-markets
in Asian nations. To bring the stock market in an operational and informational
order, two stock markets have been set up in Bangladesh of which the Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) is one of them. Consequently, the traders of the markets are rolling
fund, stakeholders and other philanthropist organizations are using data for
estimating indices such as price per share, price earning ratio, current market price of
the share etc. mainly to know whether the markets are running efficiently. The data
on these indicators of 1st quarter of the financial years 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007
have been collected to test the EMH (Efficient Market Hypothesis) because this
hypothesis states that market prices instantaneously or fully reflect all relevant
available information. It means that the market prices of the securities will always
equal their intrinsic values. Thus, the hypothesis holds that the share price
movements are random and systematic. According to this hypothesis, it is possible to
earn normal returns by randomly choosing securities at a given risk level. This
research attempts to test whether the series on the industry such as bank, insurance,
service, food and allied and textile really follow the behavior of normal distribution.
The different descriptive statistics, non-parametric estimators and ARCH models are
used for testing the hypotheses. The results may be important to the planners,
security analysts, investors and security exchange regulatory bodies for improving
the market status in this connection. The estimated results are found very useful.
