Industry- Academia relationship is an essential element to generate innovation and employability. Systematic and coordinated approaches are absent in most industry and academy relationships which brings unsuccessful collaboration among them. Current trend of relationship between industry and academia failed to impact revenue generation hence could not create employment opportunities. Identifying the gaps between industry and academy will allow more outcome based research and innovation. Most research collaborations nowadays are ad hoc or opportunistic based which often fail to meet the expectation and are difficult to sustain in a competitive world. Successful collaboration can be established if we are able to recognize potential sources of conflict and ensure that they are addressed properly. In this paper we address those gaps by presenting a systematic review of the literature on industry-academy relationship. Here we investigate areas of conflicts; suggest strategies to overcome those and identify the driving forces that can stimulate the relation between industry and academy.

English has been included in the education system of Bangladesh for a long time. However, after getting twelve years education in English, learners average competency in spoken English at tertiary level is not yet up to the standard which is a consequence of negligence of teaching speaking at every level of education (Imam, Ropum & Arif, 2013). Unlike the private universities, the public universities of Bangladesh hardly give emphasis on communication skills to make the students able to compete in the job market. Consequently, graduates are found to have problems in communicating in English and they feel shy to speak in English (Azizul, 2010 in Tahereen, 2015) and often in the job market their communication ability fails to impress the interview board. This paper aimed to find out are the public universities offer any Spoken English course and to what extent communication skills is given emphasis on the other compulsory disciplinary courses. Two public universities inside Dhaka had been selected to find out the answers of the central research questions. Interview questions for the teachers and classroom observation checklist have been used to collect data. As a theoretical framework this paper has used Brown and Yule's framework of three types of speech (1983). It is found that in public universities most of the departments do not offer specific spoken courses and even they do not give any emphasis on spoken skills on other disciplinary courses which create adverse effects on graduates' employability.

The increasing rate of unemployed graduates is one of the critical issues that triggers world's concerns lately. Malaysia's recent upsurge in graduate unemployment has specific causes relating to economic development, education policy-making, and reforms in the economy as well as in higher education. In Malaysia, every year, almost 200,000 fresh graduates search for employment. Besides academic performance, it has been acknowledged that graduates should be equipped with industrial relevance skills to increase their marketability and competency rate. The Government of Malaysia also encourages active involvement of industries through strategic partnerships and joint ventures with higher education institutions in providing these relevant skills and training to the students. The purpose of this paper is to expose one of the programs called Hands- On Programme of Entrepreneurship (HOPE) which is being executed through the academia-industry linkages experienced by University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in nurturing the entrepreneurial graduates. This paper adopts a case study of HOPE at USIM and found that the involvement of industry is pivotal in tertiary's education, especially in terms of students' activities and development. Ultimately, this paper provides a new insight on the academia-industry linkages especially for nurturing students to have entrepreneurial attributes as one of soft-skills upon their graduation.
