<title>The Parable of Salvation or Damnation: A Study of Samuel Beckett’s Biblical Allusions in Waiting for Godot</title>

<description>The Parable of Salvation or Damnation: A Study of Samuel Beckett’s Biblical Allusions in Waiting for Godot
Hossain, Mohammad Kamal; Alam, Asma
Equivocally referred Biblical allusions in Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot&#13;
conform significantly to the playwright’s uncertain vision of the Christian creed as projected&#13;
in many of his major works. The ambiguous nature of the scriptural references in his plays&#13;
has very often been attributed as the most convincing reason to the perception of Beckett as a&#13;
skeptic or in some cases as an atheist. The present study intends to examine the Biblical&#13;
allusions used in Waiting for Godot with a view to understanding the dramatist’s real&#13;
objectives behind using them. Uncertainty about the quintessence of some fundamental&#13;
Christian truths is presented through cryptic references to the Biblical contents. The intricate&#13;
web of scriptural references in the play serves the purpose of presenting a vision of&#13;
hopelessness and chaos at the core of human existence. The possibility of redemption for&#13;
humanity is denied through the ambiguity reflected in the numerous references to Biblical&#13;
parables. One major finding of the present study is the fact that, through his characters’&#13;
Biblical citations Beckett seems to oscillate between the realms of faith and faithlessness.&#13;
The present study concludes that the Biblical allusions in Waiting for Godot do not&#13;
foreshadow any change in the immobile lives of the characters, instead, it only adds to the&#13;
intensity of what is already there.

<title>The Impact of Class Size on Quality Education: A Case Study at the Tertiary Level in Bangladesh</title>

<description>The Impact of Class Size on Quality Education: A Case Study at the Tertiary Level in Bangladesh
Rahman, Siddiqur; Hossain, Mohammed Sakhawat
The small classes1 at tertiary level enhance student-teachers’ interaction and provide&#13;
a richer learning environment. Teamwork, interaction with classmates, projects and analysis of&#13;
case studies are the key learning tools in many tertiary level courses. The small and diverged&#13;
classes allow personalized attention as students learn different theories as well as their&#13;
applications on pragmatic decision making. Our study therefore, reveals the reality on the basis&#13;
of existing literature and questionnaire survey that small class size has a significant impact on&#13;
the quality of education by enriching the performance of the students.

<title>Sustainable Growth Rate and Optimal Capital Structure</title>
<link>http://dspace.daffodilvarsity.edu.bd:8080/handle/20.500.11948/669</link>
<description>Sustainable Growth Rate and Optimal Capital Structure
Alam, S. M. Ikhtiar; Zahid, Md. Shahidul Islam
Sustainable growth rate (SGR) is the maximum sales growth rate, measured from a base sales&#13;
level, which a company can support without any additional external equity financing while&#13;
maintaining a target Debt-Equity (D/E) ratio, given the retention ratio, b. SGR formulations&#13;
available in literature do not consider variable liability as an internal source of financing, and&#13;
thus, these formulations underestimate SGR. The present study proposes a new formula to&#13;
correctly calculate SGR which includes variable liability as an internal source of financing, to&#13;
examine the impact of D/E ratio on SGR, to construct SGR–D/E Ratio Continuum, and,&#13;
thereby, to determine optimal D/E ratio of a company based on its forecasted level of sales&#13;
growth rate. That is, the study proposes that SGR formulation is an alternative tool to&#13;
determine the optimum D/E ratio for a given level of forecasted sales growth rate of a&#13;
company. The study finds that as D/E ratio increases, SGR also increases and at one level of&#13;
D/E ratio, SGR reaches its maximum. After that level of D/E ratio, SGR becomes negative.&#13;
This relationship between SGR and D/E ratio is true if a company is not already in financial&#13;
distress. The present study finds that based on the forecasted level of sales growth rate of a&#13;
company the optimum level of D/E ratio or optimum capital structure can be determined&#13;
from the proposed SGR–D/E Ratio Continuum. This is a new approach to determine&#13;
optimum D/E ratio in financial management. Empirical test supports the findings of this&#13;
study.

<title>CONSUMERS’ PERCEPTION OF QUALITY TOWARDS PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN BANGLADESH</title>

<description>CONSUMERS’ PERCEPTION OF QUALITY TOWARDS PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN BANGLADESH
Huda, Md. Muzakkeerul
This study primarily investigates the underlying factors that help to form consumer perception of quality&#13;
toward private universities in Bangladesh. Five beliefs have been identified as salient to perceive the&#13;
quality of private universities of Bangladesh. These are quality faculty members, university environment,&#13;
campus facility, quality education and university image/reputation. Multi-item measures were used for data&#13;
collection. Results revealed that three factors: campus facility, quality education and university&#13;
image/reputation have positive and significant influence on perceived quality of private university in&#13;
Bangladesh. Quality faculty members and university environment do not have significant influence on&#13;
perceived quality of private university in Bangladesh.
