A Socio-Legal Study on Dowry System in Bangladesh

Abstract

Greed is the main reason for dowry. It is clothed in demand, extortion and profiteering. The main motive behind the dowry system is to promote the life of barbars and their family members, increasing consumerism, excessive consumption, status quo and a prosperous and luxurious political life. Dowry patterns have changed as a result of women's increasing paid labor force power. In many cases the husband or in-laws’ control and appropriate women's income. Husbands raise his wife's income as a source of income. Generally, Bangladesh is a poor country. Our various social problems are solved. Poverty is a big problem. The problem of dowry is the beginning. A social problem for dowry status. If the girl has any physical problems, if there is family pressure or if there is a big one, physical problems of dowry can be seen. Muslims are the main cause of increase in dowry in our country. It is a fact that the Dowry Prevention Act needs to be amended. In this portal I have promised that allocation of income to wives or wife income should be regulated as dowry and hence treated as a criminal offence.
