Abstract:
Post-stroke management is a crucial component of stroke care, as it can help improve outcomes,
prevent complications, and promote recovery. Both non-pharmacological and pharmacological
approaches are used in post-stroke management. This study was carried out to increase the
awareness of the people and to gather versatile information about post-stroke management. The
work was done based on different articles and journals.
Non-pharmacological management includes lifestyle modifications, such as exercise programs,
dietary changes, and mental support. Studies have shown that non-pharmacological post-stroke
management is commonly used in many countries. It is difficult to provide an exact percentage
of non-pharmacological management used by people worldwide after stroke as this can vary
depending on factors such as availability of resources, healthcare systems, cultural beliefs and
practices, and individual preferences. For example, a study published in the International
Journal of Stroke in 2015 reported that rehabilitation therapy was used in more than 80% of
stroke patients in hospitals in India. Another study published in the Journal of Stroke and
Cerebrovascular Diseases in 2018 reported that non-pharmacological management was used in
the majority of stroke patients in a hospital setting in Saudi Arabia.
Similarly, the use of pharmacological management after stroke is a common practice worldwide
and is often used in combination with non-pharmacological interventions. However, the specific
percentage of pharmacological management used after stroke is difficult to estimate as it can
vary widely depending on individual patient characteristics and healthcare practices in different
countries.
The extensive knowledge regarding post-stroke management that has been summarized in this
review article may be useful to readers all over the world.
