Abstract:
Background: Globally cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women and the incidence and mortality rate of cervical cancer are highest in low- and middle-income countries. Objective: The study aimed to determine the psychological and social aspects among cervical cancer patients in (GOU) unit of a tertiary-level hospital in Bangladesh. Methods: Among 304 participants, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out with a semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 25. Results: In this study, the mean age of the respondents was 45.49 years. The study findings reported that 77.3% of respondents have anxiety at an abnormal level, and 80.9% have abnormal depression levels. Moreover, 16.1% and 14.5% have borderline abnormal anxiety and depression accordingly. Respondents anxiety and depression level are significantly associated with their education, profession, marital status, family income, treatment bearing source etc. Moreover, most of them (94.7%) have economic problem for treatment and are not satisfied (97.4%) with their present condition Conclusion: Generally psychosocial issues are being covered in terms of long-term treatment process but it is crucial to find out the interventions for better management of psychosocial problems of cervical cancer to make the treatment process smoother.
