dc.description.abstract |
The increasing demand for fresh and nutritious produce has led to a critical need for
innovative solutions in the agricultural industry. This project develops a deep learning
solution to handle the problem of guaranteeing the freshness of vegetables and fruits.
Our technology evaluates photos taken using smartphones' cameras using cutting-edge
machine learning algorithms, giving consumers immediate access to information about
how fresh fruits and vegetables are. The deep learning model is trained on a diverse dataset,
incorporating factors such as color, texture, and blemishes to accurately classify the
produce's freshness level. The Android application that we named “FRESHNESS
DETECTOR” provides a user-friendly interface, allowing consumers and retailers to make
informed decisions about the quality of their purchases. Additionally, our application can
contribute to reducing food waste by discouraging the sale or consumption of deteriorated
produce. Through extensive testing, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our solution in
accurately identifying freshness levels across various types of fruits and vegetables. This
project serves as a valuable contribution to addressing the challenges in the agricultural
supply chain, promoting sustainability, and ensuring healthier food choices for consumers. |
