Abstract:
Renal replacement therapy, which includes hemodialysis is required for patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD), which is characterized by a progressive impairment of renal function. Most waste products can be eliminated quickly with hemodialysis. But this process also causes the body to lose important nutrients. In order to keep dialysis stable, dietary management is necessary. These patients need to consume enough calories, protein, and water, as well as the appropriate amounts of sodium, potassium, and phosphorus . Diet therapy is implemented to increase survival rates in hemodialysis patients and improve dialysis adequacy.
