Abstract:
This study offers a comparative analysis of retirement benefit systems in the USA and Bangladesh. The objective is to emphasize the advantages of the U.S. retirement sector while outlining the deficiencies and obstacles in Bangladesh’s retirement regulations, providing recommendations for potential adaptation and implementation in the context of Bangladesh. In the first part of the study, the U.S. retirement system is examined in great depth and with a larger focus on its widespread adoption in the public and private sectors. Policies such as 401(k) plans, social security, and pension plans are utilized by not only employees and companies buteven sole proprietors because of their flexibility and government backing. The US government provides specific rules and guidelines to be followed along with the provision of tax rebates, education and encouragement for both the employers and the employees in investing into a retirement plan. More than 3,000 companies are providing structured retirement plans, making this industry as highly regulated and effective in the US.
