Abstract:
Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are becoming increasingly popular worldwide as a means of reducing carbon emissions and increasing fuel efficiency. However, battery management is a critical issue in the operation of HEVs, as it directly affects their performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness. This paper discusses the current state of HEV battery management from a Bangladesh perspective. Bangladesh is a developing country with a high population density, limited resources, and dependence on fossil fuels for transportation. Despite these challenges, the government has set ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which includes the promotion of electric and hybrid vehicles. The adoption of HEVs in Bangladesh is still in its early stages, and there is a lack of infrastructure and knowledge about battery management. HEV batteries need to be carefully managed to ensure their optimal performance and longevity. This includes monitoring the state of charge, temperature, voltage, and current of the battery pack, as well as balancing the cells to prevent overcharging or undercharging. Battery management systems (BMS) play a crucial role in managing HEV batteries, and they must be designed to suit the specific requirements of the vehicle and operating conditions. In the Bangladesh context, the development of appropriate BMS solutions for HEVs can be challenging due to the lack of technical expertise and infrastructure. However, efforts are being made to address this issue through collaborations between academia, industry, and government agencies. For example, research institutions are working on developing low-cost BMS solutions that can be easily integrated into existing HEV models. In conclusion, HEVs have tremendous potential in Bangladesh to reduce carbon emissions and improve fuel efficiency. Battery management is a critical issue that needs to be addressed to ensure the success of HEVs. Collaboration between different stakeholders can help overcome the challenges faced in developing and implementing effective BMS solutions for HEVs in Bangladesh
