dc.description.abstract The integration of structural design software with local building codes is crucial for ensuring both the efficiency and safety of building designs. This study explores the comparative effectiveness of ETABS software against the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) in the context of structural design. ETABS, a leading tool for structural analysis and design, offers advanced features such as automated seismic analysis and material optimization. However, its default settings are based on international standards, which may not fully align with BNBC’s specific requirements, particularly in seismic design and load combinations. This study aims to bridge the gap between ETABS and BNBC by evaluating how ETABS outputs can be adjusted to meet BNBC standards. The objectives include enhancing design accuracy, optimizing design processes, and mitigating risks associated with structural failures. Through a detailed analysis, the study identifies discrepancies between ETABS outputs and BNBC requirements, assesses the impact of ETABS on material efficiency and cost, and highlights challenges in aligning software outputs with local code provisions. en_US
