dc.description.abstract Building safety and structural integrity are put at serious risk by seismic incidents, particularly in areas where earthquakes are common. To reduce possible damage and provide stability in these places, upgrading already-existing structures becomes an essential process. As seismic risk is taken into consider in building regulations and standards, it is becoming more and more important to adapt older structures to meet modern safety requirements. In order to achieve drift compliance in accordance with Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) 2020 criteria, this research focuses on the seismic retrofitting of structures built under the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) 2006, with a particular focus on the application of X-bracing and column jacketing as a retrofitting approach. It is essential to assess and upgrade existing structures to bring them into compliance with the enhanced seismic safety criteria as a result of the BNBC 2020 (BNBC, 2020) replacing the BNBC 2006 (BNBC, 2006) in this regard. Retrofitting is a proactive approach to strengthening structures, ensuring their resistance to seismic difficulties, and minimizing possible damage in the event of an earthquake. en_US
