Abstract:
This report is an account of my journey as a Sub-Editing Intern at Ajker Patrika. During my internship tenure, not only did I get to learn about sub-editing as my internship role dictated, but I also got the opportunity to witness firsthand the functioning of a news environment, something that I have never been exposed to before within the confines of my academic setting. In writing this report, I have highlighted some of the basic structures that are in this organization and some of the individuals who are involved in managing this newsroom. This report will also elaborate on my supervisor since they played an important role in helping me understand my assignments. I have shared the tasks I accomplished each week, and how these tasks contributed to helping me develop confidence in the areas of editing, writing, and developing news stories. The internship has also exposed me to different software and applications in the newsroom. Most significantly, this experience offered me a glimpse of life beyond the classroom. I gained experience working under the pressures of time and maintaining accuracy during the process of compiling news. Through this, I managed to develop both personally and professionally. In conclusion, this report is a compilation of what I have learned, the responsibilities I undertook, as well as the observations I gathered during my stint at Ajker Patrika. This is an important experience that will help me in the future as I pursue a career in the media and the field of journalism.
