From the Classroom to the Newsroom: My experience at Independent TV

Abstract

This internship report describes the utmost learning experience gained by me during the course of a twelve-week internship at ‘Independent Television’ a key news channel in the Republic of Bangladesh. It is no stranger to the fact that the said TV channel enjoys fame for offering updated news right around the clock, along with a vast digital presence. To the report, I present my experiences as a well-read in my role as the Social Media Intern. I explain the systematic way Independent TV operates and introduce the individuals and groups involved in working together to run the TV channel. I also report to my supervisor, who mentored me in my role during the internship. The report describes my weekly evaluation of what I accomplished. The things that I accomplished allowed me to understand how what I implemented in class can be applied to the real world of the media. Another thing that caught my fancy was the tools and electronic program that were implemented at my internship. One of the critical experiences I developed expertise in regards to is the most crucial part of this report. In the fast-paced and hectic work environment associated with a digital newsroom, I was confronted with real issues, making for a learning experience that will be integral to my future as a professional. I learned firsthand the importance of flexibility, learning digital skills, and multitasking within today’s media landscape. In short, through this report, I actually wish to convey my internship experience, what I did there, what I gained from there, and how much this internship at Independent TV was effective for me.
