dc.description.abstract In order to highlight similarities and differences between their respective law enforcement policies, judicial procedures and protection of individual rights, thisthesis takes a comparative approach on the criminal justice systems in England and Bangladesh. In the first half of the study, they provide historical contexts to their respective legal regimes in both countries by examining how British Colonialism has shaped Bangladeshi and English law respectively and also exploring how common law developed. Police, courts, prosecution, and prisons are all core components of each system that the study scrupulously examines. Protections of the safeguard nature – such as a fairtrial, counsel (legal assistance), citizens’ bail and burden of proving innocence arefocused on. Comparisons of how law enforcement organizations are structured andoperate in terms of accountability, transparency, and community engagement. Prison administration, how long sentences are, and current attempts to address problems such as overcrowding, human rights abuses, and cases that have yet to be decided all figure in what the research uncovers. en_US
