Drug Regulation in Bangladesh: A Comparative Study of Local Laws and Global Norms

Abstract

Drug misuse and trafficking present serious problems for Bangladesh, affecting its social cohesion, economic growth, and public health, according to my paper, “Drug Regulation in Bangladesh: A Comparative Study of Local Laws and Global Norms,” To solve these issues and protect the welfare of the country, it is imperative that effective drug control mechanisms be put in place. A comparative study of Bangladesh's domestic drug control laws and international drug control norms is the goal of this thesis. The study will pinpoint the difficulties Bangladesh faces in putting international norms into practice and investigate how to get beyond these obstacles and improve the efficacy of drug control. In addition to highlighting important shortcomings in institutional capacity, policy coherence, and enforcement, the study also identifies areas in which Bangladesh has made impressive strides. It also looks at how international cooperation and adherence might improve the nation's drug control tactics. The results highlight how crucial it is to align domestic legislation with international standards in order to establish a more effective, strong, and human rights-compliant drug control system. In order to fully solve the difficulties with drug regulation in Bangladesh, this report offers policymakers practical suggestions that include enhanced adherence to international standards, better interagency coordination, and legal amendments.
