An Internship Report on The Role of Mobile Financial Services in Transforming Traditional Banking: A case study of bKash Limited

Abstract

This internship report presents a summary of my practical experience at bKash Limited, one of the leading mobile financial services providers in Bangladesh. I was appointed to the Business Partner section under the Finance and Accounts Department, where I got the opportunity to observe and participate in various financial processes and internal activities. During my internship period, I was actively involved in several tasks including financial forecasting. budgeting, variance analysis, cost monitoring, and support in cross-functional decision making. I worked widely with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. The primary purpose of this internship was to identify the gap between academic knowledge and real-world business practices. During my internship, I achieved valuable consciences into budgeting, cost analysis, financial reporting, and interdepartmental coordination. I also gain knowledge about how the Business Partner team supports other departments by confirming proper financial planning. adherence to internal policies, and alignment with corporate objectives. As part of the internship report, I have made a financial analysis of bKash Limited, which included key profitability ratios such as current ratio, asset turnover ratio, gross profit margin, net profit margin, return on assets (ROA), and return on equity (ROE). These analyses disclosed deeper observation into the company's financial health, performance, and overall efficiency in recent years. Under the supervision of Mr. Md. Shamim Raihan of bKash and the academic guidance of Dr. Nurul Mohammad Zayed, I was able to contribute to daily work, attend meetings, and work with data that helped me enrich analytical and communication skills. This report summarizes my key responsibilities, experience, and education, and includes relevant analysis based on my observations. As part of the internship report, I have prepared a financial analysis of bKash Limited, which included key profitability ratios such as gross profit margin, net profit margin, return on assets (ROA), and return on equity (ROE). These analyses expressed deeper insights into the company's financial health, performance trends, and overall efficiency in recent years.
