This report is based on my three-month internship at Mercantile Bank PLC, Mirpur-10 Branch,
with a primary focus on the Credit Department.
During my internship, I got the opportunity to work in two departments: The Credit Department
and General Banking. In the first two months, I learned how to open accounts, handle pay orders,
process checks, and help customers in General Banking. In the last month, I worked in the Credit
Department, where I watched how loans are processed, approved, and monitored. This report's
goal is to look into Mercantile Bank's credit management system, find issues, and make
suggestions for how to make it better. It uses data from my experience and the bank's records.
The chapters cover the bank’s background, my roles, what I learned, the credit process, financial
performance, and recommendations. In the last chapter, I concluded that the internship helped
me understand how important careful loan handling and risk checking are. I also learned how to
work with other people and became more confident in the things I do. Despite some challenges
like complex procedures and limited system access, I gained valuable experience. This chapter
also talks about how my work can help both me and the bank get better in the future.
Overall, this report helped me understand credit management better by showing me how what I
learned in university relates to real banking work. |
