dc.description Internship Report en_US
dc.description.abstract This report analyses the reservation activities at “Sea Pearl Beach Resort and Spa”, with a focus on operational and strategic roles of the reservation department. The recommendations are based on a six-month internship; key findings include the efficient use of the IDS Next PMS system to manage reservations, issues during peak times, and lack of interdepartmental communication. The internship knowledge at “Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa” about the reservation process highlighted the components of technology, communications, and service through the guest experience that are significant to the hospitality industry. The ability to manage bookings from the IDS Next PMS was critical, despite the encountered challenges, such as lack of an effective call management system, high call volume, and extended manual processes. This report outlines recommendations to implement proposed changes to the work practices and processes such as implementing effective call management systems, enhancing staff development, and improving interdepartmental communication. Addressing these recognized challenges, Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa will have the ability to embrace operational effectiveness and provide exceptional experiences for guests, while also competing successfully within the hospitality market space. Reservations are crucial to the success of any hotel, with the job responsibilities requiring the reservation department to maintain room occupancy while helping with guest inquiries and ensuring the property runs smoothly. All of this was done with IDS Next Property Management System (PMS) to help us with organizing reservations, automation, and understanding real time room availability and revenues! Some highlights included the efficiency of the call-in reservation process during peak season; including prioritizing calls and using a call-back strategy to manage a high level of call activity. There was a noticeable shift toward online reservations which is a very strong industry trend. en_US
