Abstract:
The report entitled “The Present Scenario of English Language Teaching in a Bangladeshi
School” has been written on the basis of my experience at Lake Circus Girls’ High School, a
renowned one at Dhanmondi in Dhaka. In order to complete this task, I went to a Bangla
medium school to perceive the present situation of English Language teaching by observing
and taking classes. I would like to say that according to our present curriculum, the teaching
system of English language in Bangladesh is not satisfactory enough. They are not concerned
about the pronunciation, vocabularies and learning the languages through techniques. Rather,
their way of teaching is memorizing the topic which they usually practice. So, a number of
recommendations have been made to enhance the teaching-learning process, especially in the
field of English language teaching and learning, at secondary level schools in our country.
