Abstract

SME splay an important position for the progress of our economy by creating employment opportunities, generating income and reducing poverty. The industrial sector makes up 31% of the country’s gross domestic product most of which is coming from SME. SME finance is one of the important sector of banking activities. This means that they have the possibility to be one of the best banks in the SME sector. Sonali bank limited emphasizes the main concern on SME financing. In this repot try to focus on SME activities of SBL. The report also focuses on the importance, purpose, and prospect of SME. There are some problem banks are faced when they financing in the SME sector. The analysis of two years' performance of SME financing found that SBL adapts a good position in the SME sector. From analyzing the data of the investment of 2016 and 2017 in the SME sector by SBL, it is clearly seen that there is a significant growth in the industry in 2017 than in 2016. The amount of percentage increase shows that the Manufacturing sector is having a rapid growth rather than the other two sectors of the industry. The percentage of- performing loans was increased in 2016 which was acting as a threat but in 2017 non-performing loan is decreased which indicates an income prospect of Bank. As a government bank, Sonali Bank Ltd. It has an excellent opportunity to be a top bank in the SME sector in the economy of our country.
