Abstract:
Energy storage analysis is the backbone of power system analysis and design. The
Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) is one of the foremost promising
electrochemical energy storage systems considered to be suitable for an honest range
of renewable energy applications, which stores electric energy by changing the
oxidation numbers of anolyte and catholyte through redox reaction. This chapter covers
the basic principles of vanadium redox flow batteries, component technologies, flow
configurations, operation strategies. This thesis reviews several different types of
batteries along with its advantages and disadvantages. Further, this thesis focuses on
the electrochemistry of Redox Flow Batteries, most recent developments, its
applications and a case study. The significance of this study is to figure out a possible
comparison between the available energy storage system now a days & adopting the
most feasible and efficient energy storage system. From the observation and research,
it has been highlighted that vanadium redox flow battery can be the long lasting &
recyclable energy storage of future[1]. Besides, there are few limitations & findings of
recent researcher pointed that adopting of the VRFB for some particular application are
not feasible that have been reviewed.
