| dc.description.abstract | The congestion of the road today becomes an important challenge for densely populated cities like Dhaka, Bangladesh. Emergency response vehicles are one of the main services affected by road delays (e.g. ambulances, fire trucks). This thesis has been developed on traffic system analysis with preference for emergency vehicles by controlling the traffic signals to smooth the traffic flow for emergency vehicles. The RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology used to link wirelessly the traffic signals & emergency vehicles together. The main concept behind the suggested system is that whenever an emergency vehicle comes to a standstill owing to significant traffic congestion, RFID placed at the traffic signal (receiver) recognizes the RFID tagged vehicle (transmitter) and communicates the information to the microcontroller. The controller IC in this case controls the traffic light based on the data received from the receiver. The signal is then turned Green for a short period until the vehicle passes past it, at which point it reverts to its normal signaling sequence. This technology delivers commands to the microcontroller to control the traffic lights and shorten response times during emergencies. It also serves as a mission to save lives. There are currently no proven adaptive algorithms, which could give emergency vehicles priority in Bangladesh. This analysis can also draw a valuable lesson for the setting of signals for emergency vehicles and to enable traffic technicians to establish effective emergency signal timing plans. Here I tried to show that how effectively the delays reduced by using this technology with some realistic collected data from different traffic scenarios. | en_US |
