5G will make it possible for everyone to have access to high-speed internet everywhere,
and it will also make it possible for a huge number of devices (e.g. IoT) to be connected
in an ultra-reliable and cheap way. Cloud computing, Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are the primary technological enablers maturing for use in 5G. However, these technologies face significant security challenges in addition to growing concerns about user privacy. In this work, I discuss the security and privacy issues surrounding 5G technologies. I also discuss security solutions and future approaches for secure 5G systems. |
