The Present Scenario of English Language Teaching at Govt. Safar Ali College

Abstract

English is an international language, it plays a crucial role in our lives as it helps in communication all over the world. Moreover, it is widely used in literature, education, computer, aviation, science, technology, etc. However, English is a substantial subject in the present competitive world. For my internship program, I have scrutinized a few classes and I have taken classes for 3 months as an intern teacher at the Dept. of English at Government Safar Ali College. During teaching at the college, I have noticed some notable aspects of teaching like inaugurating standards of behavior, expanding working relationships with students, use of routine to minimize lost time in different activities, lesson planning, establishing an effective plan, etc. The present report focuses on the following aspects : *Establishing Standards of behavior A teacher must anticipate his student’s behavior in the classroom, according to the lesson plan. I have given different tasks to my students in the classroom to ensure that they are behaving properly or not. Moreover, I have set up a structured learning environment in which certain behaviors are discouraged and others are stimulated. *Building Rapport between teacher and students Management of relationships is the most important component of a classroom. It makes a sociable environment in the classroom. I have started my classes with greetings and have spent individual time with my students to get to know them and to create personal learning opportunities. *Lesson Planning A lesson plan helps both the learners and instructors understand the goals of the particular class. It assists to learn the objectives of the class too. I have made lesson plans for every class and have tried to obtain the objectives.
