Abstract:
In a bridge design hydraulic consideration is important and integral part of bridge construction. This study deals with the hydraulic design of Deul-Uttara bridge which requires understanding of water resource engineering, hydraulic data, and empirical formula for its analysis and design. A topographical survey was conducted to survey the water line, the bank line, and the location of the bridge. Hydraulic data such as water level, discharge, and velocity were obtained from BWDB, from which design discharge with 100-year return period, scour depth, and linear waterway were estimated. This study recommends 190 meters as the length of the bridge and the depth of the foundation will be 6 meters below the river bed. This is the essential information required to create a bridge.
