dc.description.abstract	System support consists of computer-based information systems including the efficient transmission of information and the storage and analysis of information. This paper provides an introduction to the local area network (LAN) technologies being deployed today. It includes an overview of LAN and general terminology needed to understand the issues. This is followed by a section discussing the various challenges associated with deploying LAN technologies.
