Abstract:
The two-dimensional steady laminar forced convective boundary layer slip flow of oxide nanofluids past a radiating stationary semi-infinite flat plate is studied numerically. We assume that the plate is subjected to Newtonian heating (Merkin) boundary condition. The governing partial differential equations are converted into similarity equations using suitable similarity transformations. We chose three types of oxide nanofluids, namely, copper oxide, alumina, and titania and water as base fluid. The dimensionless friction factor, heat transfer rates, and the dimensionless velocity and temperature profiles are presented graphically and discussed. It is found that the controlling parameters strongly affect the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics.
