dc.description.abstract The Internet is a technological development that has the potential to change not only the way society retains and access knowledge; but also transform and restructure traditional models of higher education, particularly the delivery and interaction in and with course materials and associated resources. Utilizing the Internet to deliver e-Learning initiatives has created expectations in higher educational institutions including colleges and Universities. e-Learning affords a lot of opportunities. It offers an economic advantage for higher education by providing more value with less cost of running. Information may expensive to produce but cheap to reproduce. e-Learning is not just about the content, but most importantly the delivery of that content. Developers must consider and understand instructional design and its integration into building e-Learning course. In this paper we have examined the requirement of the e-Learning course developers and the adoption factors focusing on the developing countries. This study explores the issues surrounding the implementation of e-Learning in higher education, including the structure and delivery of higher education, the implications to both learners and educators and the global impact of the society including the adaptability. We have critically analyzed the barriers and challenges of implementing successful e-Learning system in the higher education sector in a developing country like Bangladesh. We have also presented the possible solutions for overcoming the mentioned barriers. en_US
