In this paper we have demonstrated a Meshed
Atlas Visualization Toolkit (MAVT), an automatic mesh
generator, which is a set of comprehensive libraries as
well as a number of interactive tools in Java Platform. It
covers a wide range of fundamental functions from
image conversion and transformation, image
segmentation and analysis, to geometric model
generation and manipulation, all the way up to 3D
visualization and interactive simulation. The toolkit
successfully visualized a multi-structured 3D
biomechanical human brain CAD model (3D meshed
atlas) using the Cerefy Brain Atlas database. The scope
of the tool has also been expanded to the collaborative
CAD environment through a virtual design studio (VDS)
that facilitates synchronous dynamic collaboration
between geometrically dispersed users. The developed
tool is expected to contribute in neurosurgical simulation
and other clinical and web based application
development. We have validated our model by geometric
matching 2D cross sections and in-vitro indentation
experiment on pig brain to compare tissue deformation
with the result. |
